[Thirtieth meeting]

Objective:
Reinforce understanding of grammar and mechanics.

Classwork:
Print "b" from last class meeting.
Chunk the paper by stapling every four pages together (pages 1-4, 4-8, etc). If I have more than four chunks, I have the option of repeating prior grammar evaluators to the additional sections.
Obtain a yellow highlighter.
I will be evaluating my paper for specific elements of grammar: absolute modifier, dangling modifier, preposition and conjunction. Mr. Alexander does not assume that I know each of the aforementioned grammar terms. He does expect that I understand how to search to learn the meaning of each.
At the top of the first page of the first chunk, write the words: absolute modifiers; then highlight the absolute modifiers in the chunk.
I will then correct any of the highlighted elements in this section that are not written properly.
At the top of the first page of the second chunk, write the words: dangling modifiers; then highlight the dangling modifiers in the chunk.
I will then correct any of the highlighted elements in this section that are not written properly.
At the top of the first page of the third chunk, write the word: prepositions; then highlight the prepositions in the chunk.
I will then correct any of the highlighted elements in this section that are not written properly.
At the top of the first page of the fourth chunk, write the word: conjunctions; then highlight the conjunctions in the chunk.
I will then correct any of the highlighted elements in this section that are not written properly.

[Note: The reason for doing this is to practice self-assessment and diagnosis of my own writing. It is important for me to understand the elements of writing because it will help me minimize my mistakes. The paper is being chunked in order to practice identifying and modifying my work in order to avoid overkill of each element of grammar. Ultimately, this is the part of the paper-writing-process which smooths-out or refines my document as it is content complete. Structure and flow (classes 26-28) then grammar and mechanics are the last steps of our process of producing a final document.]

Homework:
Complete classwork.
